On Monday, June 27, Westercon 64 Chairman Glenn Glazer, joined by committee members Sandra Childress, David Clark, and Kevin Standlee, appeared on Bay Area radio station KFJC 89.7 FM program Thoughtline with host Robert Emmett to talk about what’s going to be happening at Westercon this coming weekend. This was our second appearance on Thoughtline, and we thank Robert and KFJC for letting us come and talk about the convention. We have their permission to include a recording of the interview here on our web site.
Members of the Westercon 64 committee will be on KFJC radio (89.7 FM in the South Bay Area and also over the internet) appearing on Thoughtline with Robert Emmett. Tune in Monday, June 27, at 6 PM PDT as convention Chairman Glenn Glazer, Dealers’ Room manager David W. Clark, and Website editor Kevin Standlee talk about plans for next weekend’s Westercon.
Representatives of Westercon 64 will be staffing a fan table at Further Confusion 2011, January 13-17 at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San José. This is the same hotel as we’re using for Westercon 64, so this can give you a chance to check out our facility if you haven’t been there before.
Representatives of Westercon 64 are at two conventions over Thanksgiving weekend. We’re at Loscon 37 at the LAX Marriott, where we have a table and will be hosting a party. We also have a table (but no party) at SorcerorCon at the Sainte Claire Hotel in downtown San José, only one block from the site of Westercon 64. Please stop by at whichever convention is close to you and talk to us!
Representatives of Westercon 64 will be at OryCon 32, November 12-14, 2010 at the Portland Doubletree Hotel (see map below for directions), answering questions and selling memberships for Westercon 64. We’re also one of the sponsors of Match Game SF, the SF/F-themed recreation of the 1970s game show, scheduled for Sunday morning of OryCon. One of the prizes available will be a Westercon 64 membership.
Westercon is not just for the West Coast anymore, and Westercon 64 is spending this August 27-29 weekend at ArmadilloCon in Austin TX hosting a fan table and talking about our convention. If you’re at ArmadilloCon, we hope you will stop by and say hello.
Westercon 64 had a phenomenal response at BayCon. Our fan table was always busy. Fan Guest of Honor Mike Wilmoth engaged fans in our party room with intelligent and lively conversation, which kept our party hopping. We sold dozens of memberships and upgrades, as well as our spiffy new t-shirt designed by our Artist Guests of Honor, Phil and Kaja Foglio.
It was also a very good con for recruiting and we were able to fill a number of important positions. We’re always looking for more volunteers to join the staff list.
Our next stop is Westercon 63 and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
Our thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk with us at ConDor and Gallifrey. Our next scheduled convention appearance is Norwescon 33 in Seattle over Easter weekend, April 1-4. Besides our fan table, we’re also one of the sponsors of Match Game SF, the fannish game show where you fill in the ____, on Friday evening of Norwescon.
Westercon 64 Chairman Glenn Glazer, sitting behind our table at ConDor in in San Diego, sends his greetings and invites anyone with questions or comments about Westercon to drop by our table this afternoon and say Hi.
It’s a busy convention weekend (February 26-28) coming up in Southern California, and Westercon 64 will be there! Come meet the Chair of Westercon 64 at Condor XVII in San Diego or the Treasurer at Gallifrey 21 in Los Angeles. We will be staffing fan tables at both conventions and will be available to sell memberships and answer questions.
